Magnesium burns at more than 5000 degrees F. The bar of magnesium is light weight and has a Ferro cerium (flint) rod embedded on one side that is scraped to produce a shower of hot sparks to ignite the Magnesium shavings. The kit also contains some aids that enable use of smaller amounts of shavings to start a fire and also flame extenders, ConcentratorPaper and WI FireStix to lengthen the burn time in tough conditions.

We provide a scraper/striker blade that is attached by an exclusive stretch lanyard to the Doan bar.
