In the photo of your Doan fire starter kit, it appears that the striker/scraper tethered to the bar is simply a section of hacksaw blade. Is it indeed just that or something more?
You are correct, we use a hacksaw blade for the scraper. It works great, we alternate between the toothed side and the back side for scraping. It is tethered with a shock cord to allow some flexibility.
